#263 / There Aren't Two Sides To Facts

 


That is Robert B. Hubbell, pictured above. Hubbell writes a daily blog, published on Substack. He calls his blog the "Today's Edition Newsletter." Hubbell is also, it appears, a "Super Lawyer" (click this link to learn more).

Not all of Hubbell's postings are strictly "legal" in their focus. Currently, he is commenting, most frequently, on the upcoming presidential election, and most of his commentaries touch on that topic, one way or another. I find his thoughts worthwhile, and often insightful, and I certainly encourage you to subscribe. You can pay, but there is a "free option," too. 

My blog posting today was stimulated by Hubbell's commentary published on April 2, 2024, "We Don't Have The Luxury Of Indifference." In essence, Hubbell was disputing the idea that our newspapers and other sources of political information should "tell both sides."

Most telling, from my perspective, was Hubbell's celebration of a statement from the Cleveland Plain Dealer. Hubbell was quoting Editor Chris Quinn, who, apparently, routinely publishes "Letters FROM The Editor," to go along with those "Letters TO The Editor" that readers submit, and that the newspaper routinely puts into print. In one of those "Letters From The Editor" columns, Quinn apparently said the following, disputing the idea that newspapers have an obligation to present "both sides" of every issue.
