#240 / Tell MTG: Politics Is A Collective Endeavor

Just look at that picture! She is such a sweetheart, isn't she? Well, actually not! That is Congress Member Marjorie Taylor Greene, pictured above, and as New York Times columnist Michelle Cottle suggests, "The Notorious MTG" had better either "sweeten up," or resign herself to political irrelevance.

Adam Schiff, currently running for the United States Senate, makes a similar point in a very, very brief video clip, in which Schiff asks the New Yorker's Andy Borowitz, why everyone seems to take an instant dislike to Greene. Click this link to watch the video. The video is really short, and Schiff's explanation is pretty funny!

One of Cottle's columns, back in May, was titled this way: "Marjorie Taylor Greene Has a Decision to Make." It's worth reading, if you can jump the possible paywall. On what basis has Cottle made her prediction about Marjorie Taylor Greene's political future - that MTG had better either get sweeter or become irrelevant?

Well, Cottle suggests that the true nature of the kind of "politics" that seems to have worked for us - for the last 248 years, or so - is based on the following principle:

Legislating is a collective endeavor.

So, Michelle Cottle thinks that we're "in this together?" Yeah. Something like that. That's even true on the far-right fringes!
