Looking at the pictures, reading the news reports, who doesn't want to "stand with Ukraine?" Writing in Sojourners magazine, Maria J. Stephan, former Director of the program on nonviolent action at the United States Institute of Peace, says we need to do that, but we need to do it "nonviolently."
Read Stephan's article. She makes the case for "civil resistance," not military action, as a way to settle disputes.
Would that be a big change (almost unheard of)? Yes. It would.
Would that be a GOOD change? I would say so. I would say that we ought to start working on something besides war, including nuclear war, as we consider how to deal with international conflicts. Currently, war is the only option on the table.
