Dave Bockman (pictured) died on May 6th this year. A relatively unknown hero, Dave had a big impact on the Monterey Bay Region. In a brief tribute to Dave published in its June 2014 newsletter, the Santa Cruz County Chapter of the California Native Plant Society cited Dave's work to help protect and preserve Marina Dunes State Park, the Sand Parklands of Santa Cruz County, the Gray Whale Ranch, Neary Lagoon, Pogonip, the South Ridge in Felton, and Glenwood Estates in Scotts Valley.
Dave's ambition was to preserve the natural world. I was privileged to hear from him often, during my twenty years as an elected member of the Santa Cruz County Board of Supervisors.
Dave's obituary was published in the Santa Cruz Sentinel on June 22nd. You can read more about Dave Bockman there.
Thank you Dave Bockman! Thank you for a life devoted to the preservation and protection of the Natural World, upon which we, and all life, ultimately depend.
