#238 / Desert Lotus

I very much appreciate the fine photography made available to the public through The Atlantic's "In Focus" feature (available free, by the way). On August 16th, "In Focus" featured photographs of "A Lotus in the Desert: China's Xiangshawan Resort." The image at the top of the page is the first in  a series. Click the link to see them all.

I couldn't help but think that this resort exemplifies what I believe is a mistaken idea of how we, as humans, should conduct ourselves within the Natural World that sustains all life, including our own.

Lotus flowers do not bloom in the desert.

We should live within Nature, not seek to replace it.
