When the unit of analysis is the group, or the "collective," genuinely political action becomes possible. If I am right that it is our "political" actions that create the human world that we most immediately inhabit, then it is only through collective action that we can truly change our circumstances.

Marianne LeNebat, who is writing about Arendt, does say that my favorite political philosopher thinks that "collective action" is the basis of all politics.
