Gresham's Law is popularly stated this way: "Bad money drives out good."
Once you think about it, it's obvious. Click on the link, or click on the image, if you'd like to read more.
In my opinion, the principle underlying Gresham's Law can be applied in completely different contexts. Bad behavior can drive out good behavior. Selfishness drives out sympathy. Synthetics displace the natural world.
Last Saturday's San Francisco Chronicle had a front page story with this headline: "Can organic, modified crops easily coexist?"
Getting to the bottom line, it doesn't look like it! Human-created synthetics are displacing the world of Nature, with very problematic results.
At the very least, we ought to know what we're eating. That's what Proposition 37, on the November ballot, is all about.
