#235 / Inhabiting Nature
Pete Cowdin makes a distinction between "visiting" Nature and "inhabiting" it. I guess I would have to say that I "visited" nature (and my son, Philips) during the first couple of weeks of August. As you can see from this picture of Philips' camp, he was more nearly "inhabiting" the place than "visiting" it.
Philips spent about a month in his camp at Relief Reservoir, located in the Emigrant Wilderness above Kennedy Meadows. You can see more pictures by clicking here. He really "made himself at home."
I think being "at home" in Nature is what "inhabiting" Nature is all about. In the ultimate sense, Nature is the only home we have. Because we build our own "homes" inside of the Natural world, we tend to forget that lesson.
Even a "visit" is a good reminder!
