#209 / DMSO

DMSO is the abbreviation used for dimethyl sulfoxide, an organosulfur compound with the chemical formula (CH₃)₂SO. Called "Nature's Healer" by some, it is controversial in the medical community.

I have no position on the advisability of using DMSO for medicinal purposes (or for any other purpose, actually), but I do like it as metaphor.

One of the key properties of DMSO is that it penetrates the membranes of the body quickly, and delivers whatever is dissolved within it to distant regions of the body almost as if by magic.

Within the body politic, we need some such agent, to disseminate truth and possibility to the aching and inflamed areas of an organism wracked with pain and dysfunction.

I think there is such an agent. I think there is a DMSO for the body politic.
