To "conquer" a city and make it yours, I suggest a campaign based on the city's "food flank." A city "food tour" can allow you to slip past the intimidating obstacles of language and unfamiliarity with the terrain, opening an easy access to the beloved center of the community.
On Monday, March 5th, I slipped inside the defenses of Athens and came away not only conqueror, but "conquered."
