Jean-Marie Gustave Le Clézio won the Nobel Prize for literature in 2008. At an airport bookshop on one of my recent trips I picked up English translations of both Terra Amata and The Interrogation.
I thought that Terra Amata, particularly, was an extraordinary book. While it doesn't quite provide the "answer," it very definitely illuminates that "question" with which I keep wrestling, my "Stockdale" question: Who am I and what am I doing here?
