One of my favorite plays, upon which I have commented before, is The Burnt Flower Bed, by Italian playwright Ugo Betti.
Everyone has, inside himself ... what shall I call it? A piece of good news! Everyone is ... a very great, very important character! Yes, that's what we have to tell them up there! Every man must be persuaded - even if he is in rags - that he's immensely, immensely important! My advocacy of the Next Blog >>technique is premised upon the accuracy of Betti's observation. There is so much "good news" out there! Reading the headlines, we might forget it.
I blush to confess (having reached the age I have, and having lived in Santa Cruz County, now, for fifty years, which provides a wealth of opportunity to listen to the "good news" of good music) that I was, up until just now, completely unacquainted with Billy Bragg (pictured).
If you are not acquainted, may I make the introduction? Listen to his music. Listen to his political advocacy. To my mind, Billy Bragg is "good people." It's "good news" indeed that there are a lot of good people out there. Let's not forget it.
