Bill Moyers has recently presented a moving tribute to Howard Zinn, author of A People's History of the United States.
You can read Moyers' speech by clicking this link, and you can actually watch the speech by clicking this one.
I was struck by Moyers' quotation of Mark Hannah, who was pretty much the Karl Rove of the McKinley era: "There are two things that are important in politics," Hanna said. "The first is money and I can't remember what the second one is."
If we care about saving democracy in the United States, in the era of Citizens United, we need to figure out what that "second thing" is.
