I am all for "green." It's the "tech" that I worry about. "Technology" is defined in my dictionary as "the application of scientific knowledge for practical purposes, especially in industry."
In other words, "technology" is to use our scientific knowledge to manipulate the world to achieve "practical" results. If "green" means "natural," of or pertaining to the world of nature (and that's how I read it), the phrase "green technology" may be something of an oxymoron.
For a critique of technology in general, I recommend "The Technological Society," by Jacques Ellul.
