Cuzco is a tourist favorite. Love it. Great shops. Good food. Jumping off place for tours to Machu Picchu, the Sacred Valley, and other amazing Andean locations.
Here's my suggestion: just add oxygen!
Cuzco is at an elevation of over 11,000 feet, and it turns out I noticed. My first day went from mild uneasiness to a thought that I might not make it through the night.
Luckily, the Cuzco hotels are equipped with wheel-in oxygen tanks, and a little oxygen and a good night's sleep made all the difference for me. Plus drinking coca tea, and chewing on coca leaves, which are offered at breakfast along with scrambled eggs, orange juice, and toast.
A toast to Cuzco: just add oxygen!
