Since I believe that the world we most immediately inhabit is the result of human actions, based on human choices, and that the most important of those actions are the ones we make collectively (since I believe, in other words, in the "social construction of reality"), I am bound to think that "government" is important."Government" is the word we use to describe the process by which our collective resources are mobilized, and our collective choices are made to achieve our collective goals.
If "government" is as important as I think it is, I have to prefer a kind of "democratic self-government" which is not, in fact, simply a way to elect our own dictators.

Democracy?!, whoa, what about the Tea Party: the most stident, passionate, most likely to vote, and won't yield their right to be ignorant . . . until death. . . .
A study, reported this week, indicates that when Tea Party - like folks are confronted with irrefutable evidence that their beliefs are false; only become more strident and passionate in holding those beliefs.
Seems to explain a whole lot about the USA, and how can anyone in their right mind could support: Vietnam, Bush, etc. etc. etc. even NASA, but the latter is a tad subtle.
If Communism (in theory) sought to liberate the serfs from their slavery, guessing those serfs feel secure right where they are.
Think Woody Allen and I probably don't think the story of this species has a happy ending.
