The Our Breathing Planet website confronts a typical problem for those who care about the environment. As they put it:
Everyone likes to say they do the right thing but very few actually do it. What's the answer to this problem? Lather, rinse, and repeat - repeat being the key word, here. Shampoo manufacturers figured out long ago that the word repeat is the key to increased action.Actually, I think that shampoo manufacturers figured out that the word repeat was the key to increased use of, and therefore sales of, shampoo. Maybe I'm just a cynic.
I would never claim that that building good habits through repetition of desired actions isn't important. That, however, is a strategy that must be "internally" generated. Here's a hint, if people aren't doing the "right thing" it's because they don't actually care.
There is a lot of that going around. In a certain way, it can be a good thing, too!
