Speaking of the invocatory power of music, Bob Dylan's harmonica playing and these lines have always meant a lot to me:
Well, if I die
On top of the hill
And if I don't make it,
You know my baby will.
I like that sense of continuity. It's just another way to talk about that "no end to life" idea. The highway seems to keep on going, and "that ol' river seems to keep on on rollin'.... no matter what gets in the way, and which way the wind does blow. And as long as it does...."As long as it does, there is that sense of continuity.
You can just sit right down upon that bank of sand, and watch the river flow.
But being perfectly honest, today I'm not so sure. I am sure that we have nobody to blame but ourselves, if our train gets lost.
